The Union Survives

Book

Best British Book Design & Production Award Finalist 2019 (Student Category)

This project output is a book which discusses how young people in Ireland define their gender identity. The book was inspired from Aristophanes' Speech from Plato's Symposium, a passage where the first sign of the 'in between' of the sexes came into place. The purpose of this book is to communicate the different gender identities and show the personal story of each individual to gain more understanding of a subject that is not black and white. The book is based on first hand interviews and personal accounts. Also included is a glossary of terms and various flags to signify different gender states.
